You jest, but that happened over 20 years ago in the UK.
In 1995 the text books said 'John and Jane have 10 apples between them'.
In 1998 I distinctly remember the first time I encountered 'Jaswinder and Fatima have 10 boxes of Dates.' It was such a bizzare thing to see. None of us realised it was Blairite propaganda to prepare us for what was about to be done to our country.
There wasn't a single non-white in the class (I think there were literally 3 in the entire school, and all but one of them had an English name), none of us managed to pronounce 'Jaswinder' correctly, and all of us thought 'Fatima' was a deeply unfortunate name indeed.
