On June 2020 Wikipedia user RGloucester had recently removed mentions of Marxist scholar Trent Schroyer as being the origin of the term Cultural Marxism on his Wikipedia article.
This is censorship, and is likely being done to promote the regressive left's Cultural Marxism denialist conspiracy theory
There was a time where I considered Wikipedia as good reference material...but now I'd sooner drive 50 miles to an old dusty library to learn about something than use Wikipedia.
And when I want to learn about anything objectively virus related (e.g. mask efficacy, how viruses work, history of vaccines)...I refuse to use any reference material after 2018.
Even when I went to school in 2000, professors warned me if I ever cited Wikipedia in an essay, I would be penalized.
Wikipedia is great as a citation source - just cite their sources instead. Do not cite Wikipedia - ever. Wikipedia has never claimed to, nor ever will, verify information given by the site internally, and thus, has never been a valid citation.
Ironic that Cultural_Marxism redirects to Cultural_Marxism_conspiracy_theory https://archive.ph/DWzcB
What the actual fuck is wrong with people.
They make up history to support their own lies? What the hell!?
This is the basis of most sociology. The reason social sciences are almost always not reproducible is due to the fact the first study wasn’t actually valid.
Have you heard the tale of Walther Duranty, NYT writer and Pulitzer prize winner?
Did you know it took 60 years and the collapse of the Soviet Union for the truth to be found? And in the meantime the death toll numbers were fudged in the Soviet archives.
89 years later The Pulitzer Prize Board has still refused to retract the reward, stating there was no deliberate deception. They awarded it during Holodomor. The same Duranty propped up Stalin many times.
They also awarded NYT and WaPo for "deeply sourced, relentlessly reported coverage in the public interest" in the Russia-Russia debacle https://archive.ph/1pmEU
You can't. I mean: the awards that these people give themselves, they do not give them for informing the public; they are given for saying what the corporate media wants them to say
This is the "right side of history." You control the narrative.
“Those who control the present, control the past and those who control the past control the future.” - George Orwell
If you have any older dictionaries, encyclopedias, documentaries, or things of historic value - keep them. When people stopped keeping permanent, and personal copies of things, it allowed others to control them.
it's over wikipedia is finished
Sadly, idiots are still going to use it because they are too fucking lazy to do their own research.
Not surprising in the least.
Leftism and cronyism, perhaps.
Classical Liberalism and an unrestrained market would foster much better conditions for personal liberty.
Before I could agree with you, we'd have to determine what is the "current state of society" inasmuch as we are working backwards towards the ideological cause.
