archive of tweet in case of removal:https://archive.is/h4k29
Seems ironic a browser claiming to be against censorship is now engaging in cancel culture if that's not bad enough seems they preemptively blocked reply's from the tweet on twitter as only "People @torproject follows or mentioned can reply." appears on the live page as of this writing.
After looking at the open letter in question it seems they are censoring all opposing views if this thread is to be believed: https://github.com/rms-support-letter/rms-support-letter.github.io/issues/175, not really related just seems like good trivia.
Tor went woke a long time ago. As befits a service used mostly for child pornography.
It's always a "big think" moment when developers don't care when people use a platform for child porn, drug deals, and even hitmen; but "fascism" is unacceptable.
Revealed preference as regards to the friend/enemy distinction.
Child pornography just harms kids. It does not threaten their power. There is no reason at all for them to oppose it. A lot of New Left folks throughout Europe advocated for the legalization of pedophilia and/or child pornography.
I wonder how much modern policy is just moves in a multi-generational game of chess towards a checkmate of being able to fuck kids.
Occam's Razor inversion: These people ALREADY do that. See: Epstein, Rotterham, etc. The best explanation is the one that accounts for the least complexities. It introduces a very large complexity if their plan is to "be able" to do something they're already regularly doing.
Over time, this will become just "the Left", and that's when opposing it threatens their power. Privately, I'm sure many would love to embrace it, since they've created this New Left, but publicly, they still need centrist support. Enough critical theory and critical race theory in primary school will get them there eventually.
If the last 100 years have taught us anything, it should be that they know patience when prudent.
No, that's disgusting, and it doesn't even follow from your silly little made up story.
i thought it was still worth mentioning anyway.
Oh, it definitely is. I just wanted to point out that it's not exactly out of character.
