” Since I was a kid I’ve heard racial slurs yelled at me or my parents, or witnessed my parents being treated as if they were stupid because their English isn’t perfect, even though my mom’s English is really good,” said Kim, a second-generation Korean American. “Those small moments really add up. I don’t think we’ve ever spoken up against those small moments. . . . It’s easier to try not to think about it, or to try to let it go. To try to bury the hurt.”
People have leaned out of cars to scream “Asian!” at her, she said, and she has gotten comments about how she must like Jackie Chan, the Hong Kong martial artist and actor. As an Asian woman, she said men often ascribe characteristics to her that don’t reflect her personality — that’s she’s a pushover, or soft-spoken.
A coworker of mine was recently trying to crib the answers for the company's fleet driving test and I'm like "this is why I always drive when we use a pool car".
There's a reason for that. Most Chinese who immigrate here come from wealth and had personal drivers and either had to flee because the CCP needed a scapegoat for another one of their fuck ups or left because they saw the US as a better oppertunity. Plus driving in most Asian countries, where most people live in cities, is not the norm or in the case of SE Asia they can't afford a car so they drive scooters so they tend to cause more accidents due to inexperience. Driving in Thailand, Nam, India and cities outside of Beijing are an absolute nightmare in my experience, less traffic laws and people do whatever they fuck they want in most cases as long as they're going the right direction. Especially those people on scooters, they give zero fucks and will do insane things just because they can fit in a space.
Asian is now a derogatory term folks
I've never in my life heard Asians described as stupid. On the contrary, they are considered to be smart, competent and hardworking.
Not behind the wheel.

Maybe today a lot of Chinese immigrants come from wealth but historically it's not the case.
