Evangelion does not deserve any of the hype it gets. It rides entirely on reputation because everyone saw it when they were 14 years old and didn't know better than to think it was "deep and meaningful" instead of just being a train wreck of platitudes, sophistry and slow pacing.

Evangelion is widely accepted to be the series who created the kuudere and tsundere character archetypes.
