They always point to these anti-maskers as if they are just around everywhere. I don't think I've seen a face in public in 9 months now in the city. Even in the country where I expected it to see more faces, we're at 80-90% compliance. That's in places like Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky. So, I'm supposed to believe in Canada of all places where it seems the populace is even less defiant, that there are just hordes of maskless people going around to the point that they are the reason for virus spread?
That argument is even working under the assumption that wearing a napkin on your face while walking around the grocery store provides any reduction in disease spread at all.
That's what fucking annoys me. I'm in a bluish part of a red state, we are probably more like 95% compliant and no fucking difference versus the redder parts of the state.
My guess would be masks only actually help with fomites (which makes sense or we wouldn't cover our mouth when we sneeze) but doesn't do shit for droplets or aerosols.
Stupid fucking government should have just spent a fraction of those trillions to subsidize employees to take temps outside of businesses. They didn't because "muh asymptomatic spreaders". Maybe temps would only work 90% but masks only work maybe 1% (and that's the pro-mask figure btw).
Another intellectually dishonest part of this whole exercise is how the mask mandates came about in Ontario.
The mandatory mask mandates were all implemented like dominoes at the municipal/public health district level all across the province in near unison in late June/early July when case numbers were at all time lows on the downswing after the first wave.
So not only are they mandates undemocratic and questionably unconstitutional, they are also arbitrary and completely ineffective.

Don't forget: people wearing masks completely wiped out the flu this year, but people not wearing masks allowed covid-19 to spread like wildfire.
