That reminds me of a video I saw last year and wish I'd kept. It was a doctor on one of the propaganda networks saying that the masks may not do much but we should wear them to show everyone around that we are taking it seriously. Sorry, fuck that. Under no circumstances will I be forced to wear something just so I can show anything.

It is also clear that masks serve symbolic roles. Masks are not only tools, they are also talismans that may help increase health care workers’ perceived sense of safety, well-being, and trust in their hospitals. Although such reactions may not be strictly logical, we are all subject to fear and anxiety, especially during times of crisis. One might argue that fear and anxiety are better countered with data and education than with a marginally beneficial mask, particularly in light of the worldwide mask shortage, but it is difficult to get clinicians to hear this message in the heat of the current crisis. Expanded masking protocols’ greatest contribution may be to reduce the transmission of anxiety, over and above whatever role they may play in reducing transmission of Covid-19

Ringing endorsement from the New England Journal of Medicine.

Isn't caring too much about morons that are literally to dumb to live the reason we got in this mess in the first place?

And ironically, it has an actual negative impact on useful signaling, as well as prices of effective medical masks.

If masks are encouraged only for the sick and vulnerable, then seeing someone wearing a mask is a social signal to give them plenty of space. With lower demand for masks, these people would also be able to afford and find high-quality masks with a proper air seal and good filtering.

But nope. Better to muzzle everyone with ineffective low-thread-count cloth.

Very true. Covid's gone through a lot of my extended family the last couple months including a death. I think the leftists think I'm now supposed to scream for more lockdowns and government control, because I'd seen the light or something. The thing is, it was a super mild cold for everyone under 50, a little rough but totally recovered with treatment for everyone under 70. The older than that get hit hard. Obviously depending on existing health, but most of the older in my family were not in good health.

So, I'm much more of the idea it would have gone better if instead of screaming at everyone to stay home for eternity and wear their political statement show everyone they care cloth, we might not have saved a ton of lives (who knows) but this all would have gone better. It should have always been to go about your lives, but be extremely careful with the risky population. We'd have built a much larger degree of herd immunity amongst the younger no risk population too. But, that might not have gotten them close enough to cheat Biden in.
