Communities like gaming, sports, etc. have been officially released:

I'll keep an eye on them, but I prefer smaller communities like this and even Half-KIA. On that note: what are you playing right now?
Have you considered hacking your DS? I have a Vita and the most fun I had was going doing just that, and I spent ages creating a custom theme (background images, took the music from somewhere else).
Plus it had the benefit of not using Sony's insane (unreliable) proprietary hardware.
Nintendo data mines way more information than any other manufacturer though.
I haven't but I'm not opposed to it. I looked a while back and I think on an old DS it doesn't offer a ton since it's still a pretty basic just game player.
What I'd really like is less of a hack and more just buying something, and that's one of the cartridge adapters that let me play GB Advance games from ROMs. DS plays them in hardware and not emulated so can only play from the actual slot. I don't mind collecting actual games, but they are just getting ridiculous in price now.
I love encountering fellow Vita players. There are, unfortunately, way too few of us. Sony really fucked up, and not enough people got to appreciate this insanely good console.
For a "dead" system, it has amazing community support; occasionally new fan translations come out.
I really need to learn Japanese, I know some Kanji, but haven't practiced it in more than half a year and it was pretty tenuous to begin with...still, better than nothing, and 1 day I hope to experience some hidden gems.
My knowledge is less than a kindergartener's, but it's <something>. I strongly suggest using a flashcard app like Anki and practicing periodically without any end goal.
Don't worry about applying it, just learn characters/bits. If I can fail myself to here, you have it in you too.
I wish I hadn't messed up < 1 year ago, I was in a good groove in terms of discipline. It might take me 5 years, but I think it's possible. Duendecat is another good practice tool, but I need to learn/relearn a lot of shit before I can tackle it and other options.
