No one was attempting to challenge them yesterday. They literally didn't expect to get in. All this event proved is that the elites aren't untouchable.
Even if that's unequivocally true, the image of the elite squabbling on the floor, fearing for their life is terrible optics. The Trump supporters accidentally stabbed God, and proved that he indeed draws blood.
If they were attempting to use it for further crackdowns as you claim, then it's most definitely a pyrrhic victory. I can't possibly imagine that the egotistical elitists would risk their own lives, just to create a pretense for something they were already pushing narratives for.
They don't. However, the elite have been pushing the anti-Trump agenda for so long, that they ended up inadvertently creating the monster they were lying about. A literal "boy cries wolf" situation for modern times.
The inevitable overreach of a wounded animal with a bruised ego, will start to fracture the already divided line that has permeated through the culture of the USA.
On a side note, the thing that pissed me off the most was that not a single one of the elites at Capitol Hill had the gall to diffuse the situation. They all ran with their tails between their legs. Leaders should be capable of leading their constituents, yet they all were unable to take charge. These weak, ineffectual "leaders" are severely unfit to be in office.
