The Kiwi Farms and Encyclopedia Dramatica are at risk of permanent shutdown because the site owners think they will struggle to fight vexatious litigants as the loss/alteration of section 230 could force them to fight each case on individual merits.
This is bad as there is a ton of information on individuals on that site that could be important for future reference.
Pray for these sites, I think they will need it.
There is bipartisan support to reshape the internet with section 230 reform now. Anything that passes will help big tech.
If you care so much about the information collected there, then start downloading the information and save it offline.
Dunno about ED but for Kiwifarms, Null (the admin) said he'd make a torrent with a full archive once he shuts the site down.
They're shitlords, they'll figure something out.
Not to put to fine a point on it, but if you want to make sure the info survives, find a fellow shitlord over at /r/datahoarder and organize a sitewide rip. Those people know more about archiving the entire internet than most of us ever thought of.
Kiwifarms is already basically 2015 reddit. The sites aren't edgy enough to have any real risk.
I thought ED was already gone.
ED is attempting to restart and currently has a blank mediawiki install running.
Meaning nothing
first no, these autists will just go darkweb, with blackpilled cannon fodder hosting mirrors like tpb
second, acceptable losses
ED is already dead. Too many shithead sysops have left the site in ruins and their userbase has entirely dried up.
Joshua Moon has wanted to bail on Kiwi Farms and ghost for the last year at least, just is too much of a pussy to do it. This is just the excuse he needs to finally pull if off.
