Days after that odious little slug Ben Collins of NBC was attacking it for not censoring people sufficiently.
New development:

Dan Bongino just said that the hack is just a hoax.
Who is telling the truth?
Hmmm, who should I trust- Dan the former cop & Secret Service agent or the fake news media???
If this was Sophie's Choice it would be a much shorter movie.
I think Bongino is telling the truth.

not that there is any excuse to require a phone number so fuck those guys
Looks like you were right....except you don't need a ph# to use Parler.

Weird they haven't taken away his blue check like Buzzfeed's Social Justice editor Milo...
how do you make an account without a number? Is it possible to just browse messages without an account
I just created an account on the Parler website.
I believe they make links to individual posts need a login but I opened an incognito browser window & the motherfuckin' Sargon's profile opened no problem: https://parler.com/profile/sargon
looks like it works ty for tip, need to make a browser plugin that keeps a set of profiles refreshed so I have a "feed"
DOUBT
Fun fact: Parler's
confirmation code
(during sign up) comes from the same number that sends Shop App'sconfirmation code
. I deduce from this, that Parler simply calls out to Shopify to do authentication (at least the ID portion). So, I doubt Parler has the user-data on hand to be haxed in the first place.
Honeypot gets hacked, eh?
Oh no! Who could have seen this coming?
The problems with social media that led to Parler's creation are the exact reason it cannot work - we live now in a low-trust society.
They tried to brute-force a portion of the world back into the realm of high-trust, but all they did was create a way for the low-trust gutter-snipes to punish the people worthy of being trusted.
Appears to be fake news: https://osintechnical.medium.com/i-amplified-fake-news-and-didnt-even-realize-it-904eff42a909
Good to hear.
Still I always thought Parler was a honeypot since they required a phone number to sign up for an account.
That's not unique to Parler. Tried to create a Youtube/Google account recently and you need a phone number to create one, too
Well you should expect that bullshit from big tech.
Alt tech needs to have better standards than the enemy.
