When the tactic is to slowly and politely walk through no-man's land in a civilized manner, there's an argument in favour of carrying a nice big metal xylophone, to be fair.
No, you see, the trick is you leave it in No Man's Land with a copy of the sheet music for "Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms". The Kaiser's men never learned the countertactic of playing a few notes flat.
