Now that we've seen the result of the return of our mod (not going to name him in the hopes that he doesn't appear) I would like to make the case for simply ignoring him and hoping he goes away.

First, even with the "new tools", nothing has changed. Bad actors are already bypassing them and it's unlikely that these measure will do anything more than embolden our friendly neighborhood subversive.

Second, whenever we get any moderation, it's a carpet bombing operation rather than a surgical strike. Instead of focusing on the actual problem, our mod apparently decided to go through the report queue and start handing out bans to everyone else as well. Not only does this not help, but it'll encourage regulars to start using alts which further muddies the situation.

Finally, and if this gets me banned so be it, we need to talk about the elephant in the room: the Jewish question.

I'm just back from a two-day ban for daring to state that all Jews believe a certain thing in order to be considered Jewish (I don't need to rehash it unless someone wants details). Note this is not an identity attack, it's an attack on religious beliefs and I made that clear.

While I was out, I was lurking. There were front page posts deriding niggers, faggots, and mudslimes (using those terms), that are still up right now (not to mention Imp being reinstated). At least one of those is an identity group and another is a religion. I did nothing that isn't done here on a regular basis, by regulars, especially during this whole Yasuke thing. But I got banned because muh auntie semetism. The mod used the classic "they're a race when they're criticised, but a religion when justifying their own atrocities" schtick. I had the exact same conversation with fishyman when he got modded on gaming, but even he had the integrity to consider my points instead of silencing me; let that sink in.

I'm not saying the mod is jewish but, to paraphrase u/then's Law: Any forum that doesn't explicitly call out subverters, will be subverted.

Either our mod gives the jewish faith preferential treatment, or he's simply responding to the highest volume of reports which is the same as handing your authority over to the most moralizing, backbiting, subversive users on the board; need I say more?

Regardless, our mod cannot be trusted to appoint any other mod. I know he likes conspiracies, so here's one: maybe he refuses to appoint another mod because he knows that none of the oldfags here are actually (((subverters))) and so he's planning on grooming some new accounts that he can instate later on?

Probably not. He's probably just disinterested. But that just means he'll appoint whoever makes the most pleasant noises at him when he should be appointing his critics, who actually care about the board.

My proposal is: ignore him.

Don't yell at him, don't mention him, don't even report posts (just gives him cover to say "well, you didn't report this post"). Every user should check New (daily, if possible) and downvote the spam to oblivion. Downvote spam comments but only reply with "Ban - reason". Anything actually illegal should be reported to site admins. With any luck, we can get this place declared abandoned and someone else can slip in. If not, at least regulars stop getting arbitrarily banned with nothing to show for it.

The nuclear option is always to migrate, but we've got a good thing going here (despite him): a vibrant, free-speech, culture war forum, with diverse opinions. I'd like to keep it that way.

Hey all, sorry for once again hijacking your forum in the name of Canadian politics but, you know, u/transhamwitch...

Anyway, this year I've decided to work for Elections Ontario to keep an eye on their bullshit and it's already paid off.

They're scrapping hand counts.

Everything will be done on a laptop, including registering voters with the polling station. The woman I spoke with also mentioned that their computer system (not the new count system, their entire e-mail/file storage infrastructure) was down for the first full week of the election, so confidence in their tech expertise is not high.

This is on top of the fact that Covid rules will be announced the day of the election and be on a station-by-station basis, preventing any preparation or challenge to the rules; they'll just kick you out the day of and by the time you figure out they lied it will be too late.

It's an interesting illustration of the importance they still place on voting, albeit most likely to pacify people into thinking that whoever wins is supported by the majority.

I'm callling it right now for the Liberals; they're the ones who've infiltrated these bureaucracies and would absolutely pull some shit like this.

It seems like it was the supervisor of this site specifically. Elections Canada, as per their website, clearly states medical exemptions are allowed.

I returned to try again today and both the worker (same as Friday) and the supervisor tried to tell me that there were no medical exceptions allowed.

Up until I showed them the EC website stating the exact opposite, that is. At that point they immediately changes their tone and "allowed" me to vote.

The supervisor tried to blame it on the training they received from EC so I'll be getting in touch with them to clarify the source of the issue.

The lesson here is: STAND YOUR GROUND

The people pushing tyranny don't care about laws, truth or fairness, they care about power. We need to remind them that the power in this country rests with the people, through democracy and the rule of law.

Original Post: Today is the first day of advanced voting in the Canadian Federal Election.

I just got back from my polling station. I got in, gave my ID, voter card, and contact tracing info.

As I was waiting in line, the election worker got up from his desk and to tell me (the only one not wearing a mask) that I had to leave.

I told him I had a medical exemption, which I had also told him when I first came in, at which time it was not an issue.

He told me he just got a call from his bosses saying that the rules had changed and no one would be allowed to vote in person without a mask.

This is it: real-time voter suppression.

Which party is this going to affect most, do we think? The liberals? The greens? Or the only party opposing government medical mandates who is, just this week, experiencing a huge surge in the polls?

So now a ton of PPC voters are going to have to mail in ballots in order to vote. How secure do we think that will be? How easy will it be to disproportionately affect the dissident party by simply "losing" large amounts of mail?

This is it for me. If I am not able to vote in person in this election I will understand this event as the fall of Canadian democracy. At that point, as a patriotic Canadian, I will be duty bound to do whatever I can towards destroying the system currently in place.

I'm not going to lie; I'm scared. I don't know what I'm going to do, but I know it will be dangerous and it will definitely be illegal. Because when democracy falls, so does the rule of law; anything I do to oppose tyranny will be illegal so there's no reason to hold back.

But we've still got a week. I was given a number to call if I had questions, which I encourage every Canadian reading this to call so you can see for youselves.

Ask them why this rule change happened only after polls opened. Ask them why they won't accomodate medical conditions, in direct contravention to the Ontario Human Rights Code (at the least). Ask them why you should have any faith in this election being fair and free.

And, if you care about democracy and the rule of law, not the whims of the ruling class and the powerful corporations they represent, not the fear, division, and misinformation that they've spread from the beginning of this pandemic, tell them you will not accept this.

"The PPC is for free speech and allowing their candidates maximum autonomy from party whips (for how long, who knows). That's what they've always been about. That's why you get offbeat candidates (not that you don't get plenty of racist, sexist etc etc candidates from the other major parties, it's just that it doesn't get spun).

They were literally the only party last election that had stated policies on the economy, foreign policy, immigration, education that wasn't just "muh racism".

Trudeau is a racist, sexist, clown-shoed, hypocrite. O'Toole is a total nobody set up to fail. Jagmeet is a super-racist diversity hire who can't do anything but bitch. I don't even know who the "green" party is running. And the Bloc doesn't even want to be part of Canada.
