It's pretty common in China for women doing scientific jobs. Since the jobs were merely created to let college students to... have jobs. Science doesn't matter here. What really matter is the bureaucracy needs something to run and the graduates need some indoor pretentious jobs to look like decent human beings.

The concept of “ancient Chinese inventions” itself was invented by some western scholars who can barely read Chinese. They would see any rough text and drawing about any stuff and immediately jumped to conclude that the Chinese invented that.

Japanese were actually a relatively better (if not the best) force in China at the WW2 Era. They complain about Japan because Japanese were too nice to them. You must rule Chinese like the communists and they will worship you.

They just want to show off the words they've learned. I don't know why but it seems many Chinese Malaysians act this way.

Some ISIS affiliates are coming since the Russian force is gradually moving out from central Asia for Ukraine affair. Local warlords like Taliban is a very reasonable choice at these moment. Its like the Third International vs some local Fascist.

“Taiwan, ..., is a capitalist country to which nationalist Chinese fled from the mainland after Mao Zedong’s communists won a civil war in 1949...”

Such narrative is why so many American conservatives have difficulty understanding Taiwan (and China). It just ignores that more than 80% population of Taiwan aren't Chinese Civil War refugees and their descendants, and assumes the “nationalist Chinese” are “Good Chinese”. Fun fact: The majority of such “nationalist Chinese” now pro-PRC, or at least not a fan of Taiwan independence.
