"Those then, who resist a confirmation of public order, are the true Artificers of monarchy—not that this is the intention of the generality of them. Yet it would not be difficult to lay the finger upon some of their party who may justly be suspected. When a man unprincipled in private life desperate in his fortune, bold in his temper, possessed of considerable talents, having the advantage of military habits—despotic in his ordinary demeanour—known to have scoffed in private at the principles of liberty—when such a man is seen to mount the hobby horse of popularity—to join in the cry of danger to liberty—to take every opportunity of embarrassing the General Government & bringing it under suspicion—to flatter and fall in with all the non sense of the zealots of the day—It may justly be suspected that his object is to throw things into confusion that he may 'ride the storm and direct the whirlwind.'"

Interesting quote.

Imagine a place where you did real life quests, sung in a bar, and met actors who were characters in a continuous story. That was Evermore park. It was inspiration for my job, and one of the few Theme Parks that was known in the Pacific Northwest. It has been declared over

There appears to be two parts to this story. One, the person who owned the land had no idea how to run it and wants to build something he understands. Two, the people who did know how to run it were caught up in their own SJW hug box they couldn't see outside of their own problems.

The creator of Evermore also created the Void VR experience company. They did well, but had terrible financial planning. The company has gone into different hands since then, but the original idea is great. Players wear VR gear and walk through actual hallways with props. Everything feels like what is being seen through the visor. It's a genius thing, and way ahead of it's time. They even had a location at Disney world

Bretschnieder now runs the Grid, which is a giant interactive FEC. Mixed reality go karts, smaller VR experiences and more.

It's not only sad to see it go, but also shows signs of innovation being crushed by bad management and people who prey on these organizations.

Which leaves us to the Apple Vision Pro. This is expected to bring an upper middle class treatment for VR to continue.

It is a popular idea with people lining up to help it move forward.

NVidia Omniverse now available on Vision Pro

By this Wired review it's more tech than actual experience.

Review of the Vision Pro by Wired. It's nice, but has problems and doesn't work very well. They sold tech, not an experience

VR as a home use just has a lot of problems with no real answers. The hype for it seems to be based on videogame console sales, but nothing is reaching those heights.

However the out of home market seems to be finding ways to use it. First off, it's not VR, it's mixed reality or MR. A wall has a projector, with sensors watching your movements. Headgear can be involved, but is not necessary.

Themed Experiences do this all the time with companies like Meow Wolf.

Area 15 by Meow Wolf is coming to Orlando.

Or the F1 Simulator experience.

Companies are trying to find a way to make money off of XR in the public space

It really does look like the out of home experience is more likely to make enough than the in home experience. The problem is this takes away from the aim of the companies for the home use VR. They want VR to replace your work desk and home theater. If entertainment is pointing away from that, their take over of those household areas does not win.

There are arguments that the stay at home method will take over.

XR and education, an argument for more

Arcade experience via VR

There was a fairly open secret that XR was ring funded for military use, but now it has problems.

Blue Wave uses of XR equipment may be a new open spot for attack. Blue Wave is the equipment that works within the military to follow each member. Tech heads have wanted to have a full UI for servicemen for a long time. Attacks could make the equipment cause nausea.

The classics are told with a bit of nostalgia. Look at how the PlayStation is given a narrative of dominance. They did sell more consoles, but no where near the amount claimed. But this is the narrative, and it must be told this way.

But it gets deeper as you realize that this nostalgia is big money. Museums are being made to tell stories about videogames.

Altered Beast gets a toy line

That's a fan based company making toys for sale. The Atari 400 mini is especially cool to me because a friend is really into it. I got him a full sized XL once through my retro convention connections. He lost his 400 in a fire and still missed it.

If I taught videogame history I would include a class where students had to make games for old school consoles. Sure they start at QBASIC but Assembly, C, and C++ would be taught along with using level editors and stuff like SCRUMM. Let them slowly build up to the modern engine to see and understand the history.

There is so much Classic Indie work being done that it would be easy to set up and begin working.

MidJourney bans Stability AI workers from its servers because they were stealing stuff to improve their own AI

Stability AI has major people leaving it. The article reads like it was paid for by Open AI.

https://archive.ph/vxVuh

The CEO of stability is leaving. He wants the company to go into the black and hates centralized AI

https://archive.ph/NeBxP

More stories on the company not doing well. This is a big AI imaging group, and it looks like others are trying to destroy them.

A long article about Stability falling apart.

https://archive.ph/snbeV

A major focus of Stability was to decentralize AI. If you have a powerful enough GPU, you should be able to make videos and images on your own. Even using cloud computing I have several websites that I use to do things since my computer is a potato for AI needs.

There are several pushes for the idea of a centralized AI. One place where we get our AI and it is controlled and monitored by the governments of the world.

AI Propaganda

Students aren't learning and using ChatGPT instead

AI companies would sooner destroy the world! Grr argh Twitter rant

https://archive.ph/aLc5l

Deep fakes are happening to thwart the election… in one direction only… yeah…

https://archive.ph/Zf1df

Elon Musk is investing in AI and NVidia. Why is this in Propaganda? Because suddenly Elon is an anti Semite and needs to be punished.

_P: Ethical AI

Ethical AI should be praised

https://archive.ph/JE5xB

Should we fear woke AI?

https://archive.ph/inO0Z

We should be afraid of AGI because it means more investment into right thinking companies!!!

https://archive.ph/6MNcr

At the same time companies like Google and OpenAi are paying for articles about how ethical their AI is. Suddenly AI is to be trusted.

_P: Atlantic Articles sponsored by Google

The Atlantic has a series of articles all about AI and how Google will save the world. If you remember the Donald Trump is Evil article series you get the gist. It's mostly interviews. This one is about creativity and how AI helps with that.

Google will save us by being properly restricted by Google

Capitalism will die and be reborn through AI. Google will lead the way.

At the same time, Google is introducing AI like Gemini and Google Health

_P: Google Health and the FDA

Google Health is an AI connected to Google devices that monitors your health. It's sort of scary because it could predict someone's health issues, and be abused by the company.

https://archive.ph/ihqtx

Any medical tech that could improve lives has to get FDA approval. So AI is screwed up til it's powerful enough.

https://archive.ph/wzXWK

_P: Gemini 2 Racist pictures

Google Gemini does not show the native people of a land, but only for Europeans.

https://archive.ph/ywmEq

The program was taken down to get fixed.

https://archive.ph/zSQaH

Then it was discovered the AI couldn't tell the difference between Hitler and Elon Musk in who was worse. Nate Silver tried to save his reputation by complaining about it

Meanwhile Open AI is showing off their video maker Sora, which is amazing to see.

The company is showing of their AI to Hollywood.

_S: Hollywood

Sora is being shown off to Hollywood types

https://archive.ph/4wDRD

OpenAI is trying to convince Hollywood that Sora will help, not destroy. Just let it in, just a little.

Stability Diffusion is one of the first video making processes you could use on your computer. At the same time, Stability is I producing a 3D creation tool as well.

Stability AI has a new image to 3D system that can be run on your computer. Not mine, it's a potato, but yours would be great.

I will post the link list in full with a few posts, but I thought this might open up some conversations as well. It looks like AI is being pressured to become centralized and the big names want to be that centralized power. We haven't mentioned what MidJourney is doing because they don't seem to care as much. I will post something about 3D as well.

Feel free to copy it and put it into other threads for conversation, or even the AI forum I can't seem to access.

I enjoy archiving stuff from Twitter and am in a bit of a problem. My favorite way was through Nitter. It shows all the posts if it's an type post and comments from others. The only time I don't like it is when videos are involved.

Nitter is gone, and I can't seem to find an alternative. Straight from Twitter usually does a single post. Thread reader is great, but doesn't include comments.

Does anyone know a solution?
