Stiffing restaurant servers. The two national surveys described above also provided data on Black-White differences in the tendency to stiff (or not tip) restaurant servers. In one of those surveys, 7 percent of Blacks and 1 percent of Whites reported that they never tipped restaurant servers (Thomas-Haysbert, 2002). In the other survey, 6 percent of Blacks and 2 percent of Whites reported stiffing restaurant servers (Lynn, 2004b).
