With the female demographic captured, they launched a nuke, the Jonas Brothers. Disney primed a generation of girls to like boybands, their boybands.

Granted I'm about as far out of the loop as possible on stuff like this, but doesn't it seem like boy bands (outside of K-Pop) just stopped one day? They were huge media forces and then after One Direction, zero.

Was it because they were getting in the way of the industry pushing shitty rap and hip-hop on everyone?

Unfortunately, I know some who do. They're "Disney adults" that just watch whatever the new Disney thing is. The same way boomers still watch SNL every week despite not having laughed at a skit in a decade. Out of habit and sunk cost, they can't admit that it's not worth watching anymore. I think you might underestimate how many guys consume slop as long as it's familiar-Brand slop.
