There is two sides, good vs evil.

A centrist/fence sitter is just appealing to the evil so the evil doesn't touch them and then wave their finger at the good guys for saying "how dare you be like the evil guys for defending yourselves!"

And yeah, that's what I meant as well - they have no moral high ground to stand on. One of our guys didn't kill their ass for disagreeing. They killed the moderate guy, the messenger.
