The laptop jokes were done to death so I'll only add this :

Don't waste money you can't afford to waste. If you're happy gaming on your laptop, do that.

At some point there might be several good games you want to play, but can't on your laptop. Only then would I suggest you build your own PC or buy a prebuilt.

In either options, take time to get up to date with semi-recent CPUs and GPUs to avoid overpaying / getting scammed. And decide what performance level you want within your budget.

And do not get Intel CPUs. Not only is price/performance worse than AMD CPUs, Intel has been plagued with severe quality control problems starting with 13th gen CPUs.

We're talking ''your Intel CPU will rust from the inside-out'' quality control problems.

Oh and Linux not being garbage for gaming is a relatively recent development. You have to check if any of your must-have games are compatible, and you can always have 2 drives in your PC with one having Windows installed to boot into.
