Someone some years ago made a graph/political compass of dumb/smart characters and dumb/smart audience. TBBT was smart characters, dumb audience, which is probably one of the more common types since "smart characters" are usually just really shit writing by dumb people who don't understand what being smart is like, so they write in someone difficult to understand since the writers themselves are also retards.
