Actually, what's worse is that a lot of dating apps supposedly have some really fucky gamed algorithms that penalize peoples' matching chances if they're inactive from the app for any long stretches of time. Probably applies to disabling as well.
Not that this is an especially good excuse by any means, but it's a prime example of how absolutely warped and obtuse some things have gotten.
And it's also an area where a "free market" approach is probably not going to do a damn thing, like it is with so many online/digital products and services that are almost entirely designed to gaslight and deceive their customers, and hold them emotionally hostage while exploiting the hell out of them.
