Yeah they really believe it. To understand, you've got to realize what a low opinion they have of the American voter. The disdain Hollywood has for its audience is a perfect analog for it. They make the movies/policy they want to. If no one votes for them or goes to see it, it's the masses fault. It's not a bad product you see. The rabble just aren't educated enough! If only they have a bigger marketing budget next time, astroturfed harder, and used more hip jargon then those idiots would realize that the product wasn't a steaming pile of shit.

That policy can make or break a candidate isn't something that even crosses their mind. They won't change the product, only the advertising. They won't even be able to win back labor unless they do a 180 on immigration.
