Mostly resort, though of course I did a field excursion trip for the pyramids, a LOT of questionable vendors selling souvenir stuff, but the worst you're accosted with is low-quality merchandise and over-aggressive salesmen, for the most part. At least when I went, it was very "tourist-safe", in those locations.
