What I think is extremely funny is how few people in this entire debate even remembers that DMC literally already had an anime adaptation, it was even packaged with DMC4 back in the day and was the intro of numerous characters that would get confirmed canon in 5 a decade later.

So you don't even need to compare it to the games, giving them an easy out of "different mediums." There is a full 12 episode anime already in existence that adapts a chunk of time between two games with all of these characters in it and did it pretty well and accurate enough (sans Dante debateably).
