You should remember that Jesus told them all to get swords right before he was to be taken away. Yet he did not allow them to fight in his defense. Why? Because his Kingdom, and theirs, was not of this world.

What was the point of the swords then? To use as a prop in order to teach them what not to do. Also, it was necessary to fulfill prophecy: Luke 22:37
