Andor was a solid show. But it's not the Chosen One to forge the new direction for Star Wars. I'm glad the "gritty cynical rebels" concept got made, just to see what it's like, but ultimately, because it just makes the rebels into the Empire with smaller guns, it's just an interesting spandrel that ends up contradicting the spirit of the story.

The show does a fantastic job of illustrating why people would hate the Empire, which is a great area of development for Star Wars, but with a little thought it's clear that the malcontents and sociopaths fighting against it would just create a House of Cards-style backstabber government if they won, because that's all they know how to do. A lot of them are the type of person that sincerely believes they're defending Ukrainian democracy by whacking journalists.
