The fact of the matter is that you, and he, are looking at this situation as a rational human being trying to appeal to another rational human being by attempting to show him the error of his ways. This is deeply flawed.

On a fundamental level, this person has already rejected reality and logic to a perverse fantasy. There is nothing you can possibly say to this person because he's already made the decision to disregard the real world in favor of complete delusion. Maybe if you caught it sooner you might have been able to do something, but it's far too late now.

I stand by my comments, both that you should ban this person immediately and that this is not a situation where diplomacy and discussion has any chance of helping. Ban him immediately, ignore any and all conversation about it until it blows over and people forget (give it a month, tops), and go on your merry way. Say he pissed you off in DMs.
