Probably the most comprehensive video on the history of baseball salaries and the relationship between players, the players’ union and owners to date, but a TL;DR on specifically the salary cap aspects are that the owners refuse to entertain the idea of the salary floor without a cap, but their floor is way lower than what the NBA and NFL has, so for the MLBPA, a salary cap is a non-starter.
The last time the owners tried to force a cap, the World Series got cancelled and the only reason that scabs didn’t get used was because Sonia Sotomayor put an injunction on the owners trying to use scabs and their unilateral version of the CBA that had a salary cap.
I understand why people like Hellsbells doesn’t like athletes, but the guys at the end of the bench/people who bounce between the majors and minors are WAY closer to me, you and him than they are to the owners.
