The numbers are allowed to be questioned you just have to not be an idiot about it. Comments like "it was to many", even if we want to exclude jews and include political prisoners and atrocities committed against slaves, is such an ignorant comment it shows you have no knowledge on the subject.

It's like saying, "so what if a few rich plantation owners starved" in response to the Holodomor. It's not even remotely connected to reality.

Most conspiracy theories have connections to reality, but the autist doesn't know how to put it together. Those are honest mistakes by people who don't know but are confused and skeptical. But with holocaust denial, it's only ever been motivated reasoning. You wouldn't believe any amount of evidence. You don't believe the admissions by the nazis. You don't believe the footage when you see it. It's not even just a conspiracy theory at that point, it's just motivated reasoning.

I shouldn't have to explain to someone that the entirety of the holocaust didn't take place only in Auschwitz, yet that's the level of motivated ignorance that I end up dealing with.
