I use a bluetooth controller paired with the phone and I install a phone emulator, I found emulators for the N64 so I wouldn't be surprised if they had Nintendo DS ones as well. Yes it all 100% works, there have been times when I've taken my phone and controller with me and I've played Zelda/Banjo and Kazooie in a car park no problem.

Absolute god send if you're stuck having to wait somewhere for whatever reason, once you map your buttons you're good to go.

Even if you can't necessarily outright emulate the DS it should have no problem with emulating old consoles even if it's on a fairly low end phone, I got Contra running fine as well.
