I never liked Dr.Who even being a Brit and controversially I don't think it was that good, but people who do like it treat it like their religion over here. Even the older ones I found fairly cringe just because it involved time travel and honestly the effects and everything were pretty awful even by the standards back then. It was obviously meant to be a degree of corniness even before they started pushing woke ideology.
