I mean, they're not altogether wrong, in the context of appealing to anti-Trumpers.

That's a (largely) true statement. Anti-Trumpers do largely want to go back to uniparty neoconnery. Not all of them, and some do want more right wing, but that seems to be the minority. Anti-Trumpers often want more Bush, Romney, etc. Definitely that's what the people at the top pushing anti-Trump stuff want.

In that respect, they didn't want DeSantis or his stances, but are taking what they can get, because at least he's not Trump.
