One, there’s very recent precedent for adjusting a World Cup based on local climate since they just moved the last Men’s tournament to the wintertime so it could played in Qatar with decent temps instead of boiling desert inferno heat in the summer. That they didn’t adjust this to the southern hemisphere summer just feels like they knew there was no point, since no one would show up anyway.

Two, it’s telling that he’s begging a host country’s people to come out. The World Cup generally pulls in rabid fans from every country on earth. If you’re down to begging people from the local area to kick in a few bucks, you know you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel.
