The army has the support of the people, the police. Who will defend the government? All that's needed is to kick in the door and the whole structure will come crashing down.

Note that I don't expect this to happen because the government will likely get control over the streets fairly quickly. The result of this will be to further embitter the French against immigration and the government, rather than an American-style 'racial reckoning' surrender (ironic innit).
