To be honest with how dumb the general electorate is, I fear that Newsom could win against not only Trump but also against DeSantis in a general.
CA went from a reliable red state to a blue state for a few reasons:
- The end of the Cold war destroyed defense contractor jobs in CA which were predominantly conservative
2.Reagan's amnesty for illegals created so many new Democrat voters
3.The GOP brand became more and more toxic in suburbs ever since both of the 1992/2008 election realignments.
These three factors killed the CA GOP in terms of being viable in statewide races.
I moved to Tarrant since I have family here and since it is now the only red leaning major county in Texas. Tarrant is crucial to keeping Texas red.
