I’ve always had two problems with that term, in addition to the one you mention. (1) It’s clear that TRAs have abused the language of gender far enough that one can be the opposite gender even if they NEVER get the “op” and (2) a “pre-op” trans woman and a “post-op” trans woman are both equally men for anything that matters in most social contexts. That is, outside of sexual activity (where the presence or absence of body parts makes a difference), there’s no difference when it comes to other people — a big human with a body built by testosterone-driven biology could still beat the shit out of female patrons in the women’s spa if he gets angry, the fact he hasn’t cut his dick off yet, or he has, doesn’t really make a difference. This article implies that sensible sex-segregation is no longer needed if a guy is “committed” to femininity enough to get the surgery. The dude is still a dude though!
