I wouldn’t use words like this unless the performer actually defeated the opponent in a battle of words/wills/arguments, or at least scored an objective rhetorical point over them. The literal definitions of those words imply that you came face to face with an opponent and won. Not what actually happens, which is you posted something on your own account from a safe distance: literally in the sense they aren’t in your room with you, and often figuratively in that such people have ways of controlling who can even respond. Regardless, most of the time the allegedly “shut down” person isn’t even participating.

It’s up there with the Gen Z term “roast” which ultimately just means to insult, not even necessarily very well or cleverly, so that even before you respond or make it clear you aren’t remotely effected, some Gen Z faggot will chime in saying you “got roasted.” “Roasted me? Brother I didn’t even notice a change in the temperature…”
