The link between autism and gender dysphoria, and queerness as a whole, is well-established. Transgender and gender-diverse adults are more likely to be diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. In a May 22 study in the journal “Autism” that surveyed 21 autistic adults, one of the participants said, “Being autistic is like everybody else has got the rulebook and you didn’t, so you can understand why gender would come into it because that was in the rulebook you do not get.”

So they completely fucking concede that they have glaring mental deficiencies in social interaction, but they still want to argue that their decisions are as valid as everyone else's.

It's like listening to my dementia-rotted dad, who is simultaneously aware that he has dementia, but goes ever deeper into denial about how severely his capabilities are degraded the worse they get, and will literally fight me for his right to make completely nonsensical decisions - such as his right to obstruct doorways due to no longer comprehending that people cannot walk through them if he is standing in the way. Dunning-Krueger shit, basically.
