Alice in Wonderland wasn’t a “live action remake” in the same sense as the more recent Disney shits, which are just them remaking their own movies but with more “diversity” and an additional feminist song for the lead female, though…? Indeed it was kind of an attempt at a sequel of sorts (edit: to the BOOK, not to the Disney movie specifically), Alice was an adult going back to Wonderland in that one.

But they’re STILL missing the point even if you account for the above, because the actual crux of the argument against is that we know they’re just doing it for attention and woke points. If they randomly made Ariel black in a movie in 2005 you’d get some complaints but it would largely pass unnoticed. More than anything else, it’s the cynicism and transparency of this sort of thing that people are REALLY opposed to, if you reduce it all down to the core of the complaint.
