I think he was just the fall guy. Iger was "ousted" and Chapek was installed as CEO at a suspiciously convenient time (i.e. weeks before the lockdowns), which leads me to believe the latter was put in charge simply so that he would take the blame for the inevitable downturn Disney would suffer. Then Iger could just sweep back in and "save" the company (and pave the way for this creepy broad once his contract's up). Chapek largely didn't do anything to change what Iger had already set in motion, and when he did, the wokies at Disney were very easily able to bully him into submission. We saw this with his grudge match against DeSantis for the anti-grooming bill almost immediately after he said he was going to make Disney less political.
