When my grandfather was still alive, he would always tell me this story.
Way back in human history, before the bible or the ten commandments were first created, the world was absolute chaos. Hedonism and the search for pleasure was man's greatest moral achievement at that time and nothing was off limits to achieve that aim.
However, there was always problems. War, crime, diseases, death, destruction, and famine.
Finally, someone somewhere had enough, and started creating rules and stories to basically tell everyone what you have to do to avoid the majority of this chaos.
Thus the 10 commandments were created.
Humanity being humanity, got some idea what to do next, but a large segment of the population needed to be told what to do through stories and allegories.
Thus the Bible was created.
And in a few short thousand years we went from feral hedonistic fuck machines to what we are now.
Grandpa passed away a decade ago. And it's probably for the better. In the 10 years since he passed, we've regressed farther back than he could ever imagine.
