Yes. Back in the day, there was an infographic going around about ShitRedditSays having its origins in SomethingAwful. I think that grossly overstates the influence of terminally online weirdos, and the ideas behind it didn't come from trolls. They just used existing ideas as a way of trolling for a bit.
