lolol this happens a lot with the British. An aging British woman gets bored and tired of her stodgy, "safe" husband but then she's found for an easy mark suddenly crossing paths with a hot, cool, e x o t i c strapping young man from Egypt, or Turkey or wherever the hell. He makes her feel young and rebellious. Things are "exciting" again. He makes her feel like they can build a new life together. A tale as old as time.
Too bad the women never read to the end and find that story always ends with the young man leaving after he cleans her out, after the marriage is ruined, and ventures to somewhere new to do the same thing to another unsuspecting old woman.
I have an aunt on my dad's side this happened to. She had a good marriage to a good man with a really well paying job. Managerial or executive type. Something like that. It broke the marriage, turned the guy into an alcoholic (he got better... eventually), and the aunt went from a wife with a good husband and good family to a single mom hopping from job to job before emigrating to Canada. From what I understand she's doing adequately and the cousin managed to be an outlier and has a decent job in IT. But he's in IT in Canada so he's probably a cuck. Hell if I know. My mom's own divorce when I was like, 2, means I've probably spoken maybe 10 or 20 words to that side of the family in my almost 30 years of life. Well, aside from my dad. We talk every month or so and he's surprisingly based for a boomer.
As for the aunt's ex-husband, he's doing miles better than the aunt. Happily married for a few decades now and doing pretty good for himself, all things considered.
