Understanding a person's motivations is key to determining if they're bring sincere, honest, and genuine in a discussion. You can't have a constructive discussion or debate with someone that has ulterior motives, that they prioritize over truth. I'm absolutely fine with a little drama so long as it uncovers these motivations. I can understand the trepidation about it, because it shouldn't be a 24/7 thing, but if someone is intentionally disrupting constructive discussion, I want them outed and ridiculed.
