Both the book and movie wring their hands saying that Buffalo Bill isn't a real transsexual because transsexuals aren't violent and they would never hurt another human being. Which is not only complete bullshit, since there's nothing about their condition that excludes criminal, violent, and murderous behavior, but it didn't work; the trannies at the time still attacked the story for being transphobic. There is no winning with these people; they are narcissistic, in love with their victim complex, and will not accept the fact that their shit does in fact stink.
