I recommend Hyouge Mono if you can find it. It's a historical anime that takes place in Sengoku period. While most anime about Samurai seem very exaggerated, this is very grounded though it's still a fiction, all the characters seem realistically portrayed. The story is about internal politics and tea and is absolutely compelling. It's a shame this anime is very underrated.

Another anime I really liked recently was Gundam Tekketsu no Orphans. While this anime is very polarising, either people really likes it or hates it for its relentless (or forced plot point) drama and probably the screenwriter behind the series who is very notorious for writing very dramatic anime. But I really like it because the characters are really well-written and I think the story is executed quite well. While there are some parts where the pacing gets far too slow, still I like it a lot.
