I blame Microsoft. Think about everything wrong with gaming now, it all started with xbox. Unnecessary system updates that take forever, digital game downloads where the physical disc you buy is literally fake, internal storage because fuck your memory card, requiring accounts linked to emails and credit cards, paying real money for in game currency, making games incredibly grindy to compel that extra expenditure, total degeneracy like fucking Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball!

A few years back my friend bought the COD4 remaster for the xbox1 or ps4 and we were so stoked to play split screen like the old times. Disc was empty, gotta download the entire game, then wait for it to install, oh theres an update required, wait for that to download, wait for the game to update and finally after 2 hours start the game. New feature to the remastered version, you can't play split screen unless every person is signed into their account and has a paid subscription! WTF! He paid $60 for a game, on top of a monthly subscription and they are still so greedy that they're gonna put a paywall behind offline split screen. The HD remaster was of an already HD game. And the maps cost extra.
