The president is not a prime minister.

In the American system, without congress the president can't make anything stick long term. While a senate flip is possible, the reality in the house is that the moderate democrats have all the power right now because it only takes a handful of them to deny the far left.

For all intents an purposes, the democratic party's legislative agenda for the next two years is dead, and we've known it was dead since election night when they lost seats. The democrats will DEFINITELY lose the house badly in 2022 due to redistricting (which they failed badly in their goal of controlling redistricting, with the Republicans having total control over allocation of twice as many seats).

The only real mystery now is whether someone wants to challenge Pelosi for a speakership that they're definitely going to lose. My bet is she keeps the speakership because nobody wants the ignominy of losing it in 2022 when it's her fault they will.
