The trial will lead to so much blue checkmark outrage, REEEEing and denial, it will be glorious.
Remember the threshold is beyond reasonable doubt.
Floyd had enough Fentanyl in his system to OD and stop breathing on his own. Is on bodycam footage resisting arrest, saying he couldn't breathe, while still up.
Sprinkle his recent COVID infection, 4 different coronary arteries clogged at 70 to 90%... Floyd killed Floyd.
Even if it was a preponderance of evidence standard... There's just no evidence outside "The Video" that favors a conviction. Perhaps if he were being charged with a far lesser crime - but whatever degree of murder they ended up indicting him for, no way. Of course, we'll have to wait and see whether justice will actually be served or if it'll be a show trial.
TBH its kind of stupid to let him post bail, from a personal safety perspective. Every antifa basement dweller from miles around will decend on him unless he goes completely off-grid. Its possible that this might be a strat from the DA to let the mob do the sentencing for them. They very likely know they won't get anything more serious than a dereliction of duty charge out of a jury trial, even though they desperately want to show him the chair. This might be their way of give the mob what it wants and washing their hands of it at the same time.
Why? Doesn't really seem like the guy's going to do anything inflammatory, let him be at home until the trial. If anything would change by him being out it's some nutjob might find him and try to exact some misguided vengeance, which would have the opposite effect on election votes.

Last I checked, he was being charged with second degree murder. You know what's fucked up though? Kyle Rittenhouse is being charged with murder 1.

That was more or less my first thought. A mob's gonna try to kill him.
I have to wonder the same thing.. The mob would hunt him down before he could stand trial...
?

That’s exactly why they let him out. The entire thing has been political theater from the start.
