Video by LBRY showing that they have been banned from the Google Playstore for "sexual content". A laughable notion seeing what can be seen on apps that are still on the Playstore, like YouTube and Netflix. Examples shown are a film trailer for "Cracka" and a scene from the movie "Cuties".
Tumblr was removed from both the App Store and the PlayStore for the same exact thing.
And remember that LBRY is an rising star to dethrone YouTube. So I betcha this is another app/service that Google wants dead because it threatens YouTube.
Yeah it's clear that things are removed not based on any actual standards but if they don't want competition. That's why they are trying to shut down BitChute and censor links to it too.
It's one big shakedown. If you don't act subserviently they threaten to remove your app, blacklist you, and drag your name through the gutter.
The Tumblr incident was the result of how it was discovered that the porn spam that infested the site included child porn.
I had also encountered and reported zoo porn.
“Just build your own platform”
I'm a staunch libertarian. I'm almost AnCap.
But bring on the anti-trust. Owning the Google Play Store and YouTube is too much.
Yeah, the concept of being able to deny any potential competitor access to the market is absolutely ludicrous and no company should have that power. While you can technically obtain apps without using the Play Store, most consumers probably won't bother with it.
If Epic win their case against Google and Apple, will this kind of thing stop happening?
They won't win against Google. Google can reasonably argue that listing an app on the Google Play store implies that Google is vouching for the app, and so it is in the public interest for them to continue to curate the apps offered. Since Android still allows you to install other apps that Google has not approved, their censorship is inherently less severe than Apple banning you from installing the app outright.
well maybe in EU will win but then it will be replaced by EU funded apps just as bad.
and yet youtube has plenty of softcore films
It's an alternative video hosting site. Like Bitchute and Dtube in the way that it is decentralized, which is their claim for having no censorship.
